The architectural exterior of Flo's V8 Cafe is specifically inspired by the Midpoint Café in Adrian, Texas, which is the geometric halfway point of Route 66.   It is a quintessential example of Googie architecture, a mid-century modern style that originated in Southern California and was heavily influenced by the Space Age and car culture. The building is designed to look like a stylized V8 engine when viewed from above, making it a masterpiece of "programmatic architecture" where the form of the building reflects its narrative function.
