The Rosebud Motel (filmed at the real-life Hockley Valley Motel in Orangeville, Ontario) is a quintessential example of mid-century roadside Americana, specifically a 1950s–60s "Motor Court" style building. Its design focuses on functionality and "car culture," meant to be easily identifiable to drivers passing by on a rural highway.
Architectural Layout and Form. Linear/Rectilinear Footprint: The motel is a single-story, long, low-slung building with a "row" configuration. All guest room doors face directly onto the parking lot, allowing guests to "motor" right up to their unit.
The Manager’s Suite: Unlike the guest rooms, the central office area features a split-level or two-story element with a side-gabled roof. In the show, the second-story windows above the office are famously obscured by the large "Rosebud Motel" sign to make it appear as a standard one-story motel.
Roofline: It features a simple pitched/gabled roof with deep overhangs. These overhangs create a natural covered walkway (breezeway) that protects guest entrances from the elements.
You will receive the entire structure in color for easy painting. Your Rosebud Motel will be packaged securely but due to the extremely detailed nature, some finial, window or railing details my become misaligned or broken in shipping. Not a toy as small parts can be hazardous to young children. Condition is New. Good luck and happy modeling!
